JD Beardmore was established over one hundred and sixty years ago as a general ironmonger, in Cleveland Street, London.
Fitzrovia at the time was home to a large number of craftsmen making fine furniture, and Beardmore’s product offer came to reflect the requirements of the local custom, maintaining a separate catalogue for cabinetware, until the late nineteen-sixties. However in the intervening years the company’s reputation as a supplier and manufacturer of architectural ironmongery had transcended these modest origins.
Beardmore door furniture, decorative grilles and electrical fittings now graced the grandest public buildings and finest homes in Britain and abroad.
For generations, Beardmore has represented the skill of English workmanship and accommodated the tastes of a discerning clientele.
Today this tradition continues, although Beardmore is not content to rest on past success. The company, led by its in-house design team, has placed itself at the vanguard of contemporary style, introducing new product ranges year upon year. Accordingly, Beardmore’s position as the pre-eminent name in English-made, hand-crafted ironmongery and door furniture remains secure.

The Beardmore Collection offers a full bespoke service, from design consultation, technical drawing and pattern making through to manufacture and custom finishing.
Almost anything that can be imagined can be made. The company prides itself on an ability to faithfully reproduce period hardware for conservation projects (e.g. Grade I listed properties.) Every aspect of the manufacturing process takes place in-house, ensuring the tightest quality control, continuity of production and confidentiality, where required. Beardmore’s range of classical and contemporary door furniture can be adapted to suit ancillary hardware throughout the world.
